Essential Oils for Massage

Essential Oil Beauty Benefits

  • Acne treatment - A small dab of melaleuca oil can be used to treat acne blemishes. 
  • Foot bath - With 5 to 8 drops of rosemary oil you can relieve foot pain and help increase levels of circulation. Only 2 drops of cypress oil will help control perspiration and odors. 
  • Soothing massage - Olive or coconut oil can be used as the base for a massage. Ginger and peppermint oils can soothe back pain and aches.
  • Calming bath - Any oil can provide a soothing, comfortable bath, to help reduce pains and aches. Only 5 drops of lavender oil is ideal for calming the body and relaxing the muscles. Making your own bath salts with epsom based salt is another option. 
  • Hair loss control - Rosemary oil added to your favorite shampoo can help increase circulation and reduce hair loss.

Essential Oil Health Benefits

  • Congestion relief - Peppermint oil and warm water helps open the air passages. Eucalyptus is another great option. 
  • Insomnia - Just a few drops of lavender oil in a spray bottle can help soothe your body, and help you fall asleep. 
  • Headache relief - Peppermint oil and carrier oil rubbed in to your temple can help with treating headaches; lavender is an alternate for peppermint oil. 
  • PMS - Germanium oils can be diluted, and rubbing them to the shoulders and neck will help with PMS cramps. 
  • Burn treatment - A small drop of lavender oil to a burn can help prevent the progression of the burn. A cold bath with this oil, and oatmeal, can help soothe the skin, and prevent that lingering burning sensation. 

Essential Oil Home Benefits

  • All purpose cleaning - Just two teaspoons of melaleuca oil and water make the perfect all purpose spray cleaner. 
  • Counter, dish, & floor cleaner - Warm water, a small dab of unscented dish soap, and 5 to 10 drops of lemon (or your choice) oil, provides the perfect base cleaner. 
  • Clean clothes - 3 to 5 drops of your favorite essential oil in an unscented detergent makes for a clean load. With 20 to 30 drops of oil and vinegar, you can make your own fabric softener as well. 
  • Air freshener - 1 tsp of your favorite essential oil mixed with 1 cup of water in a spray jar, produces a neutral, warm, clean scent for the car, or you can spray it on fabrics and clothes, that are dingy and smelly.
  • Mold killer - 2 tsp of Melaleuca oil and 2 cups of water, can help target black mold. Distilled vinegar with about 10 drops of an essential oil is another viable option. 
  • Mice repellent - 2 tsp of peppermint oil and 1 cup of water should be sprayed in areas mice frequent. 

Essential Oils for Babies

Essential Oils For Babies

  • Treating colds - Lemon, melaleuca, or lavender oils can be used. Two drops diffused should be rubbed on the chest either at bed time, or when changing their diapers. 
  • Colic - 1 tbsp of coconut oil and 1 drop of lavender oil can be massaged in the abdomen, in a clockwise direction, to soothe the stomach. 
  • Constipation - Add 1 drop of lavender or roman chamomile oil to 1 tbsp of coconut oil, massage over the tummy in a clockwise direction. 
  • Coughs - One drop of lavender oil with coconut oil should be massaged on the back, to help relief a cough. 
  • Crying - Let the baby smell a small drop of lavender or roman chamomile on a tissue or your hand, to help calm them when crying. 
  • Diarrhea - 1 drop of roman chamomile with coconut oil should be gently massaged over the tummy in a clockwise direction. 
  • Diaper rash - A drop of milk, chamomile oil, and lavender oil can be applied to the bath to help soothe the rash. Remember to keep the oils away from the baby's eyes.
  • Fever - Massage 1drop of lavender oil mixed with 1 tbsp of coconut oil to the feet, back, neck, and behind their ears. Cover the feet with warm socks after application. 
  • Jaundice - 1 drop of Geranium oil and 1 tbsp of coconut oil should be applied to the bottom of the feet; make sure not to apply for 1/2 hour prior to a UVA treatment. 
  • Teething - Massage the face and jawline with 1 drop of roman chamomile oil and 1 tbsp of coconut oil for relief. 
  • Belly ache - 1 drop of orange oil and 1 drop of chamomile oil with 2 tbsp of coconut oil can be applied to the bath (and swished around), to help treat this condition. Make sure to avoid getting oil in the baby's eyes.

Essential Oils for Children

  • Cold - 1 to 2 drops of lemon oil in 2 tbsp of coconut oil should be diluted and massaged on the neck and chest. 
  • Constipation - 1 to 2 drops of rosemary, ginger, or lavender oil in a tbsp of coconut oil should be massaged to the feet, neck, and stomach. 
  • Cuts/Scrapes - 5 drops of lavender and 5 drops melaleuca oil added to warm water can help clean a wound. 1 drop of lavender oil applied to the bandaid will help in the healing process.
  • Earache - Apply lavender or melaleuca oil outside the ear (never directly on the ear canal). 
  • Fever - Massage a mixture of 1 drop lavender, 1 drop peppermint and 2 tbsp coconut oil to the neck, back, and behind the ears to help with relief. 
  • Flu - 1 drop of lemon oil added to an unscented bath gel works well. 
  • Burns - Cool with water, and if the skin is not broken, add 2 drops of lavender oil to the burn. If the skin is broken, apply the oil around the burn. Then apply 5 drops of lavender oil to a cool dry cloth and genlty hold over the burn for relief.
  • Sunburns - 5 drops of lavender oil and 1 tsp Aloe Vera work for relief.

Geranium, Frankincense, sandalwood, and Ylang Ylang are also commonly used for child treatments.

The bottom of the feet is one of the best places for application. Even extremely hot oils applied to the bottom of your feet doesn't cause discomfort. Putting on a pair of socks after application will help prevent marks or getting oil on other surfaces.
